Odisha Sarpanch killed in bee attack

Bhubaneswar: The Sarpanch of Kudutai panchayat under Jagannathprasad block in Ganjam district of Odisha died after he was attacked by a swarm of bees yesterday.

Sarpanch Sanat Kumar Pradhan was rushed to a hospital in the capital city here soon after he was stung by the bees while working in his farmland yesterday. Pradhan died while being treated today, sources said.

Notably, a 15-year-old boy fell to death from a hillock while trying to escape an attack by a swarm of bees in a forest in Sundargarh district of Odisha on April 16.

The incident took place when victim Rohit Kerketa of Kelo village in Jarada Panchayat under Gurundia block along with a few others visited the forest in the afternoon.

The bees chased Rohit after he accidentally touched the beehive while roaming in the forest. Rohit fell from the hillock while trying to escape the angry bees, sources said.
