Offline class for students of Classes VIII, XI in Odisha soon

Bhubaneswar: Physical classes for students of Class VIII and Class XI will be held once high schools and secondary schools in Odisha reopen after the Dusshera vacation.

Official sources at the School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department said the schools will reopen for Class VIII and Class XI students after the puja holidays.

Earlier, offline classes for students of Class IX and Class XII have been resumed following improvement in Covid situation.

Following the directives of the S&ME department, both government and private schools have reopened for students of Class 9 for the academic session 2021-22. Classes begin at 9 am and continue till 12:30 pm. There is no recess.

Currently, students and teachers have been allowed to enter the premises following thermal screening and hand sanitization. Wearing of masks has been made mandatory and social distancing is being maintained.

Due to the onset of the pandemic, classroom teaching were suspended since March 2020.

The S&ME department earlier decided to adopt continuous and comprehensive evaluation for students of Classes 9 and 10 for the first time. The evaluation was done by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE).

The schools in Odisha had reopened for Classes 10 and 12 on July 26 following an improvement in the pandemic situation in the state.
