Ollywood mourns demise of actress Anita Das

Cuttack: A pall of gloom descended on the Ollywood (Odia movie industry) fraternity as veteran actress Anita Das passed away today. Condolences poured in from all quarters of the industry over the sad demise of Das.

“This is a personal loss as she was a mother figure to me. She was a great actress and a good human being. It is hard to believe that she is no more,” said actor and Korei MLA Akash Dasnayak.

“This is a sad news not only for the movie industry but also for the entire state,” said actor Samaresh Routray.

“Anita Das was my co-star in the films ‘Maa O Mamata’ and ‘Swapnasagar’. She was a talented actress. The voidness created in the industry following her death will never be filled,” said actor-turned-politician Prashant Nanda.

“The demise of Anita Das is a big loss for the cine industry,” said actress Anu Choudhury.

Expressing grief over sudden demise of the actress, actor and producer Pradyumna Lenka said, “I have worked with her in so many films. She was a good human being and finest actor.”

“She was one of the talented actresses in Odia film industry. She could justify her character in the films,” said veteran actor Bijay Mohanty.

“In almost all her films, you will find her in tragic role. Whether  as sister or mother, she gives her best to the character that she plays in the films. She will always be remembered for important and powerful role in the films,” said Ollywood actor Buddhaditya Mohanty.

In condolence actress Archita Sahoo said, “Not only Anita Das was a finest actress, but also she was a person with knowledge on spirituality. She was the inspiration for many in Ollywood.”

Anita Das was very caring and known for her sweet and subtle behaviour. She was an eminent actress. Her departure will create a void in cinema industry, said actress-turned-politician Pinky Pradhan.
