Orissa HC directs ASI to start repair of Nata Mandap in Odisha’s Jagannath temple

Puri: Orissa High Court in Cuttack today directed the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to begin the repair work of Puri Jagannath temple’s Nata Mandap from tomorrow (November 16).

Amicus Curiae appointed by the Court will monitor the work and submit its report every 15 days on progress made.

The next date of hearing of the case, previously filed pertaining to this, was fixed for December 4.

Worth mentioning, the ASI was keen to begin the proposed repair work on November 24, which has been summarily rejected by the High Court.

The Court-appointed amicus curiae earlier found evidence of wear and tear in the structures of the 12th Century Vaishnavite shrine.

The amicus curiae had expressed concern over cracks appearing on a beam in Nata Mandap.
