Ragging: Girl student of law university assaulted by seniors in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: An incident of ragging surfaced at a private law university in Odisha capital following a complaint lodged by a first-year LLB student against three senior students.

The complainant, hailing from Jharkhand, accused the seniors of physically assaulting her within the hostel premises, resulting in injuries to her hand, chin, and teeth.

Though the victim brought the matter to the attention of the institution’s disciplinary committee on February 20, the accused didn’t attend the hearing. Consequently, the victim and her family filed a complaint against the three students at the Bharatpur Police Station.

Detailing the ordeal in her statement, the victim said she faced abuse and torture between February 14 and 16. Furthermore, she claimed that the accused also falsely accused her of practicing black magic.

The incident has not only inflicted physical harm but also disrupted her academic pursuits, causing her to lose six months of studies while her examination is in progress, she alleged.

A police complaint has been registered at the Bharatpur Police Station in connection with the matter.
