Residents of Cuttack can get permission for marriage, funeral functions through WhatsApp

Cuttack: Following the footsteps of the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD), the Cuttack UPD issued helpline numbers today for residents of the city seeking permission for marriage function or funeral during lockdown period.

Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh informed the Cuttack UPD issued helpline number – 6370701550 for those seeking permission for marriage and funeral related activities. Someone from the city can fill-up a particular format and send the same to the helpline number through WhatsApp.

After reviewing the application, the police will provide the permission letter through WhatsApp to the applicant, he added.

In order to lodge complaints, residents of the city can call up another helpline number – 8763068167. Through WhatsApp, the police will send the FIR copy to the complainant.

In case of other emergency, someone can contact the police in Cuttack city by calling up 100 or 112, the Cuttack DCP added.

The move will minimize visit of people to the police stations and the Cuttack DCP office during the pandemic, he said.

Few days back, the Bhubaneswar UPD launched FIR-at-doorstep facility for residents of the city. Also, it started the facility to provide permission for marriage and funeral functions electronically.
