State holds investors’ meet, curtain raiser for Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 in Delhi

Bhubaneswar: The state government in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) today hosted an investors’ meet and curtain raiser for Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 in New Delhi.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Industries department Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma and other senior officials were present at the meeting.

The ambassadors of around 30 countries and over 500 delegates from various industries participated in the event.

The Chief Secretary welcomed the gathering and highlighted Odisha’s impressive growth in its GSDP under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. “Odisha has been famous for trade and commerce. Today, Odisha is the largest producer of steel, stainless steel and aluminum in India. We are emerging as a leader in sectors like chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles and apparel, IT and ITeS, Food Processing and others. We are also attracting investments in new age sectors like green hydrogen and green ammonia, data centers, EV and EV component manufacturing to name a few,” he said.

Speaking on the Make In Odisha Conclave 2022, the Chief Secretary said, “Our flagship investment summit has been conceptualised to not just showcase the vast existing and emerging opportunities in Odisha but also to build a platform for global leaders to discuss the future of business, trade and commerce, skilling and much more.”

The Chief Minister extended his greetings to the dignitaries and said, “Odisha is one of the fastest growing economies in India and has consistently grown above the national average in the last one and a half decades. We are fast emerging as a major industrial destination in eastern India because of our natural resources and strategic location. Over the last 20 years, my government has focused on leveraging these natural advantages through progressive policy, efficient administration, and technological interventions.”

He invited the ambassadors and delegates to the Make In Odisha Conclave 2022, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 30 to December 4.

“Glad to meet the ambassadors at the curtain raiser of third edition of #MIO2022 in Delhi. Highlighted #Odisha’s immense potential for investment, conducive business environment and industry ready infra. Invited them to participate in our flagship investors’ meet #MakeInOdisha22,” Patnaik said in twitter post.

Industries department Principal Secretary highlighted Odisha’s business ecosystem, skilled manpower and other advantages for setting up of industries.

“Odisha has always been known for its magnificent handloom industry. We are now firmly focusing on technical textile as well. We are setting up a technical textiles park in Bhadrak. We have also developed robust ecosystems for sectors like Food Processing, IT/ITeS and ESDM.  With nearly 200 engineering colleges and 1,000 ITIs, we are creating the most skilled workforce in the country. We have recently established a first of its kind, World Skill Centre (WSC), a premier advanced skill training institute. In order to fully realize the potential of the youths and entrepreneurs in the state, we have started Start-Up Odisha,” said the Industries Minister.
