Swimming pools run by private bodies in Bhubaneswar to remain shut

Bhubaneswar: As Covid cases rise, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today ordered swimming pools run by private operators under its jurisdiction to shut with immediate effect. However, the government-operated swimming polls will be allowed to remain open.

In an order, the city municipal corporation mentioned the government-operated swimming pools which are being used for practice of sportspersons will be allowed to operate. Meanwhile, the Covid protocol has to be followed at the government-run swimming pools, the order added.

The State government has already issued a set of guidelines asking gymnasiums, spas, beauty parlours and saloons to operate to within the time schedule of 5 AM to 9 PM as fixed by the government.

Picnic in parks, nature clubs, beaches and other tourist spots are not allowed, according to the order.

No cultural and dance programmes are being held in hotels, parks, malls, convention centres and kalayn mandaps.

Food court and food plaza at malls have been allowed to open for take away only.
