Weather Alert: Lightning, rain likely in 26 Odisha districts in next two hours

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre here predicted lightning and light to moderate rain in next two hours today in some places of 26 districts of Odisha while issuing yellow warning for these parts.

The weathermen forecasted moderate thunderstorm accompanied with wind speed reaching 30–40 kmph , lightning and light to moderate rain likely to affect some parts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Khurdha districts within next two hours.

The centre further stated under its impact minor damage to loose and unsecured structures, minor damage to banana trees and damage to standing crops are likely to occur.

People are advised to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and be ready to move to safer places accordingly, it said.
