Woman, brother in-law arrested for killing husband in Odisha’s Balasore
The deceased was identified as Ramesh Das of Niranjanbindha village in Barada panchayat of Khaira block and the accused his wife Sulochana and younger brother Jites
Balasore: A day after a body was recovered from a sack floating in a canal, police have arrested two persons in this connection in Khaira block of Odisha’s Balasore district here today.
The deceased was identified as Ramesh Das of Niranjanbindha village in Barada panchayat of Khaira block and the accused his wife Sulochana and younger brother Jitesh. Preliminary investigation revealed that while Ramesh was originally from Berhampur, he was staying with his in-laws here. Sources said on May 11, Sulochana and Ramesh had a dispute. That night, while Ramesh was sleeping, Sulochana in a fit of rage went and slit his throat. Later with help from brother in-law Jitesh. The duo reportedly went on a scooter and then disposed of the body in a sack in the canal near Balrampur. The next day, villagers saw the sack and got suspicious. They informed Simulia police after which the latter arrived. On opening the sack, they saw the body.
Suspecting the wife of the deceased, police detained Sulochana for interrogation during which she confessed to the crime.
After her confession, police arrested both Sulochana and Jitesh. The duo were then produced in court.
