Woman Maoist dies during exchange of fire with police in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A woman Maoist died during an exchange of fire with security forces near a village under Gochhapada police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district today, DGP Abhay informed.

Based on a reliable input, an operation was launched in the area by two units of SOG and DVF on December 9. During the course of operation, a group of Maoists opened fire at the security forces today, following which the jawans retaliated, the top cop said.

The woman Maoist sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight and died. Two guns, four rounds of bullets, and Maoist articles were recovered from the spot by the security forces.

Further search and combing operation has been intensified in the area after the incident.
