Yellow alert for dense fog; dry weather very likely in Odisha districts from January 26

Bhubaneswar: Due to a trough now running from the cyclonic circulation over South Interior Karnataka to South Odisha Coast, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over 14 districts of Odisha on January 26 morning, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Minimum temperatures observed appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were appreciably below normal at one or two places, below normal at one or two places, appreciably above normal at a few places, above normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: Minimum (night) temperature is very likely to fall by 2oC to 3oC during the next 48 hours at many places over the districts of Odisha and no major change thereafter.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 32.3°C was recorded at Malkangiri and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 10.2°C was recorded at Sundargarh in the plains of Odisha.

For Thursday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.01.2024)

Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Kalahandi and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Subarnapur, Nayagarh, Boudh and Cuttack.

For Friday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.01.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.01.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.
