Youth ‘abducted’ in filmy style in Odisha capital; sends shockwaves

Bhubaneswar: A youth was forcibly picked up by five persons in a car near Delta Chhak in Bhubaneswar today afternoon sending shockwaves in the locality.  The Commissionerate of Police stated the abducted person has fled from a deaddiction centre and investigation is on from all angles,

An eyewitness, Tusarakanti Parida said at round 5:30 PM today two men brought a youth on a motorcycle from Baramunda village side. The motorcyclists along with the youth reached near a Tata Nixon car bearing registration no- OD02BE 7656 that was parked at Delta Chhak.

The two motorcyclists beat up the youth and forcibly put him in the car in which three men were already present. When they tried to drive away along with the youth, some locals waylaid them. The miscreants then threatened the locals of running over them, said the eyewitness.

As fearing for life the locals did not oppose, the miscreants fled the spot along with the youth, the eyewitness added.

After receiving information, the Commissionerate of Police reached the spot and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash took to Twitter and stated, “The today’s alleged incident of kidnapping in Delta Chowk was promptly investigated. The boy has been located. Apparently he had fled a de-addiction centre. All aspects of the incident are being investigated including conduct of the centre.”
