Youth’s murder sparks tension in Odisha’s Athagarh as locals torch properties of accused

Cuttack: Tension ran high at Talagarh village in Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district last night as a youth was allegedly killed in a group clash, following which locals torched the properties of the accused.

As per reports, Sushant Rana of Radhakrushnapur village died as some miscreants ran him down with a tractor after a group clash in the locality.

He was initially rescued in a critical condition and rushed to Dhenkanal Hospital, where doctor declared him dead.

Rana’s death sparked tension as his family members and some villagers set fire to the properties of the accused, including a poultry farm, a tractor, a car, and two motorcycles.

They also obstructed firefighters from entering the village to extinguish the blaze. Subsequently, a complaint was filed at the Khuntuni police station, resulting in the detention of three persons for interrogation.

Policemen have been deployed in the village to avoid any further untoward incident.
