COVID vaccination to be suspended in Odisha for 3 days. Here’s why

Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 vaccination drive in Odisha will remain suspended on January 31, February 1, and February 2 in view of the pulse polio immunisation programme across the state.

A target of administering pulse polio to as many as 41,31,763 children below the age of five years in Odisha has been set by the state government.

The COVID-19 vaccination in Odisha will resume from February 3.

Around 17 crore children of less than 5 years of age will be given polio drops as part of the drive of Government of India to sustain polio free status of the country. The countrywide drive will be supported by about 24 lakh volunteers, 1.5 lakh supervisors and many Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), WHO, UNICEF, Rotary etc. Healthcare workers will be visiting as many as 2 crore households to ensure that no child is left without the protection of the polio vaccine.
