Cyclone Mandous: Light rainfall likely to occur in these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience light rainfall under the influence of forecasted Cyclone ‘Mandous’ over the Bay of Bengal.

Light rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati on December 10, the Regional Meteorological Centre here predicted.

However, the system will have no direct impact on the state, it said.

The existing low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal by today evening. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards, intensify further gradually into a Cyclonic Storm around 7th December evening and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry & adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by 08th December morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

It will continue to move west-northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry & adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 48 hours, the IMD added.
