DHH medicine specialist under Vigilance scanner for accepting bribe

Dhenkanal: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today arrested a doctor for accepting bribe of Rs 11,000 from a complainant at the medical professional’s clinic in Dhenkanal district.

A source said that the doctor identified as Umakanta Khejuria works in Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH) as medicine specialist. Khejuria demanded bribe to countersign the death insurance claim form of a woman policy holder, who was under his treatment.

The Vigilance team laid a trap in the afternoon at about 2.35 pm and caught Khejuria red-handed.

According to the source, the woman died recently. Her lone surviving eight-year-old daughter was supposed to get the insurance claim as nominee and Khejuria was to countersign the documents.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Khejuria and seized.

Cuttack Vigilance PS case No-41, Dated-18.7.2022 U/s-7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered in this connection.

A detailed probe into the bribe case is underway.
