Ganjam Education Official injured in attack by protesting teacher’s husband

Berhampur: The District Education Officer (DEO), Ganjam was injured in an attack by a woman teacher’s husband on the office premises today afternoon.

While Ganjam DEO, Banita Senapati was going for her lunch, the woman teacher’s husband, Suman Sahu attacked the education official on the office premises. Senapati has been injured and admitted to the MKCG Hospital.

The woman teacher, who works as the Headmistress In-Charge of Belaguntha High School, had been staging dharna in front of the Ganjam DEO office demanding early release of her pending salary. It is worth to mention that the woman teacher’s salary was put on hold since December 2021.

There has been delay in releasing the woman teacher’s salary, due to which her husband, Suman Sahu attacked the Ganjam DEO to teach her a lesson.

The Town Police has detained Sahu following the incident.
