Human sacrifice: Odisha man beheads nephew for good harvest

Nuapada: A man allegedly beheaded his 12-year-old nephew as a part of human sacrifice for good crop harvest at Jadamunda village under Komna police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district yesterday.

According to police sources, accused Chintamani Majhi (48) attacked his nephew Dhansing Majhi with a billhook when the latter had gone to a farmland around 11 am.

Elder brother of the deceased, who was watching the incident from a distance, raised an alarm following which villagers gathered at the spot and informed the police. Cops have arrested the accused.

A murder case has been registered into the incident. On the other hand, Chintamani confessed that he sacrificed his nephew for Choru, a local term used for sacrifice.
