Man drowns in pond two days after marriage in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: In a highly tragic incident, a man who had gotten married mere two days ago drowned in a pond at Khadipahi village under Khantapada police limits of Odisha’s Balasore district, today. The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar Bhanja.

According to reports, Ajay had married Chandni Jena of Gudapahi village at a temple on March 1 while today was the ‘Chauthi’ of the newly-married couple.

He had gone to a pond in the village to take bath this morning, during which he slipped into water and drowned.

Later, villagers spotted him floating in the pond. Though he was rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, doctor declared him dead.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the incident.
