MLA moves Orissa HC seeking proceedings against Odisha Lokayukta

Bhubaneswar: Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy today knocked the doors of the Orissa High Court seeking proceedings against Odisha Lokayukta Justice (Retd) Ajit Kumar Singh and Odisha Lokayukta secretary Manas Ranjan Tripathy for allegedly forging two orders of the Orissa High Court.

Accusing the Lokayukta and its secretary of attaching forged orders of the Orissa High Court in a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed before the Supreme Court, Panigrahy and Counsel Pitambar Acharya moved the High Court for a heavy penalty on Singh and Tripathy.

In December last year, the Odisha Lokayukta had directed the Directorate of Vigilance to conduct a probe against Panigrahy on basis of a complaint against him for amassing disproportionate assets.

Later Panigrahy challenged the Lokayukta’s order in the Orissa High Court, which put aside the direction. Also, the court asked the Lokayukta to conduct a probe against Panigrahy through the Lokayukta’s Inquiry Wing.

But the Lokayukta again approached the High Court through a review writ petition urging the court to revisit its earlier order.

The High Court, in May this year, dismissed the review petition and stated, “The Lokayukta was not an aggrieved party in the case and hence, the review petition is also dismissed.”

Panigrahy was expelled by BJD from the party last year on allegations of doing anti-people activities.
