Odisha CM removes Anup Sai as Warehousing Corp chairman following arrest

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President Naveen Patnaik this afternoon removed former  three-time Brajarajnagar MLA Anup Sai from the post of State Warehousing Corporation Chairman following his arrest by Chhattisgarh police pertaining to a double murder case.

Besides, the senior politician has also been removed from the primary membership of the party.

This comes hours after Sai was arrested by Chakradhar Nagar police under Raighar block in Chhattisgarh post rounds of interrogation.

The former legislator was picked up by the police for his alleged involvement in murder of a mother-daughter duo in 2016. Sai, who joined BJD in 2014, dodged summons leading to the police action last night. He was picked up by the police from his residence in Jharsuguda.

Worth mentioning, the Chhattisgarh police were questioning Sai over  his alleged link in the murder of a woman identified as Kalpana Das (32) and her 14-year-old daughter Pravati Das in April, 2016. The bodies of the mother-daughter duo were later recovered in the neighbouring state.

He had unsuccessfully contested elections in 2014 on a BJD ticket after switching from Congress.
