Odisha received ‘above normal’ rainfall in June this year: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Odisha received above normal rainfall in the month of June this year, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

The State recorded 136.33 mm rainfall between June 1 and 21, an increase of 8 percent, which is above the normal rainfall of 126.6 mm.

While 7 districts — Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Keonjhar — received deficient rainfall (20-59%), three districts — Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Koraput — recorded 60% rainfall, which is above the normal, during the period.

Meanwhile, 8 districts — Cuttack, Puri, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Nuapada and Malkangiri — registered 20-59% above the normal rainfall and the remaining 12 districts witnessed normal rainfall between June 1 and 21.
