Odisha Vigilance apprehends BDA amin for accepting bribe in State Capital

Bhubaneswar: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today apprehended an amin identified as Sarbeswar Mohanty, who is presently working in Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) here, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The amin was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a complainant to furnish a favorable report to facilitate the sale of his house which was earlier approved by BDA. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused Mohanty and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at two different locations associated with amin Mohanty from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case (No-34/2023, U/s-7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. An investigation is in progress against the accused Mohanty.

It is pertinent to mention, Vigilance previously caught a woman revenue inspector (RI) red-handed on November 29, while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The RI was identified as Lily Choudhuri working in Tasaladihi under Tangarpali tehsil limits of Sundargarh district.
