One more work of Odia painter Bijaya Biswal to find place in PM’s residence

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born artist Bijaya Biswal’s painting will find a place at Prime Minister’s residence once again, he informed it today.

Sharing a post on his Facebook handle, he revealed the ‘beautiful’ piece of art that he presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The painting is a celebration of Nagpur as ‘Orange’ city, Nagpur junction, Central Railway, Biswal said in his comment box adding, “my connection with #IndianRailways (i worked as a checking staff before quitting my job to be a professional artist .. this is platform number one . lady with an orange basket on her head!”

Bijaya Biswal hails from Pallahara in Angul district of Odisha. The acclaimed artist has taken his state to an international level with his ‘wet platforms’ series of paintings.

Earlier, he was mentioned and praised by PM Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ for the ‘wet platforms’ series which had gone viral. Later, he made a painting featuring Modi holding a bag and walking on a railway platform as return gift to the PM that received the highest bid of Rs 5 lakh during a physical auction in 2019.
