Security forces, Maoists exchange fire in Odisha’s Nuapada; SOG jawan injured

Nuapada: A Special Operations Group (SOG) jawan sustained critical injuries during an exchange of fire with Maoists in Sunabeda sanctuary of Odisha’s Nuapada district on Monday.

According to initial reports, the gunfight occurred in Shivnarayanpur area within the sanctuary. The injured jawan was taken to a private hospital in Raipur for treatment. His condition was stated to be stable.

As per sources, the security forces, acting on intelligence inputs, had launched an operation across Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. At around 3 am, the Maoists opened fire at the security forces, as a result of which the SOG jawan sustained bullet injuries.

Some IEDs, guns and other incriminating articles were seized by the security forces from the spot.

Further combing operation was underway in the area.
