Speeding Hyva truck rams into house leaving 2 critically injured in Odisha’s Deogarh

Reamal: A Hyva truck rammed into a house after breaking the roadside barricade and two persons residing in the house sustained grievous injuries in the incident that took place at Telimunda on Angul-Deogarh national highway under Reamal block in Deogarh district, in the wee hours of today.

According to a source, the road mishap occurred at around 3.00 pm after the driver of the soil-laden truck lost control of the vehicle and hit the house owned by one Narayan Pradhan and entered it.

Narayan and his wife Menaka were critically injured and the kutcha house was severely damaged.

Driver of the truck got trapped in the vehicle for nearly three hours. On being informed, a team of local fire services personnel reached the accident site and rescued the driver and rushed him to a hospital in Chhatabar for treatment. A calf and a cow were also injured in the mishap, the source added.

On being informed by the house owner, police reached the spot and seized the Hyva truck (bearing registration number AS-05 AC-0426) of Assam and launched a probe. The truck was engaged in road construction work and was carrying soil to a site. Identity of the driver has not been known yet.

Meanwhile, Narayan claimed adequate compensation for the severe damage caused to his house.
