UN College girl student found hanging inside hostel room in Odisha’s Adaspur

Cuttack: A girl student of Udaynath (UN) Autonomous College was found hanging inside the room of a private hostel in Adaspur area under Olatpur police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district, last night.

The deceased was identified as Rashmi Rekha Khila (20). She was a +3 Science Final Year student of the college. She was residing at a local private hostel namely Devaki Hostel and hailed from Bedarmati village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district.

According to reports, the inmates of the hostel were celebrating Diwali on the roof yesterday while the girl was inside her room. Later, the hostel boarders found the room being locked from inside. On looking inside through the window, they found Rashmi hanging from the ceiling fan with a dupatta.

On being informed, police reached the spot, broke open the door and recovered the body for post-mortem.

While the hostel authorities termed the incident as a suicide, the family members of the deceased alleged that she was murdered. Her kin also held the hostel authorities responsible for the death of the girl.

They have lodged a police complaint in this regard against the hostel owner, his wife and their associates.
