Youth found buried in forest in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj; decomposed body recovered

Thakurmunda: The decomposed body of a youth was exhumed today, which was lying buried under mysterious circumstances in a forest near Andharikhaman Chhak under Thakurmunda police limits of Mayurbhanj district. The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, a senior cop said.

According to the source, some locals spotted the body when they had gone to the forest in the morning. A foul smell was emanating from a spot which attracted their attention. They went near it and guessed that something had been buried under the ground. Later, the locals informed the police about it.

“A youth’s decomposed body was found in the forest on Padiabeda-Bhimkund road and was recovered after digging a two-foot-deep trench of 6.6 inches in length,” the senior police official expressed.

“Prima facie evidence suggests that the youth was killed and then buried around 15 to 20 days ago. The deceased’s body was wrapped in a blanket and tied with a rope. The body was exhumed in the presence of the local Magistrate, Karanjia SDPO, and Thakurmunda police station IIC,” the cop added.

Meanwhile, a scientific team has reached the spot and launched a detailed probe.
