Youth killed by his maternal uncle over watching YouTube videos in Odisha’s Koraput

Boipariguda: A youth was allegedly killed by his maternal uncle following a verbal spat over watching YouTube videos near a sand heap at Sarujaba village under Boipariguda police limits in Koraput district, on Saturday night.

The deceased youth was identified as Leri Gadaba and the accused was Sukadev Gadaba’s father. Both Sukadev and Leri are cousin brothers residing in Sarujaba village in the district.

According to a source, after having his dinner, Leri was watching videos on YouTube along with a few other youths of the village on the sand heap located near Sukadev’s house. Sukadev objected to this and asked the youths to leave the place. An altercation erupted between the two and took a serious turn.

After Sukadev returned to his home, Leri went to Sukadev’s house with an axe in his hand to attack the former youth. When Sukadev’s parents came out and opposed Leri from attacking, the latter attacked the elderly parents of Sukadev with the sharp weapon.

Things took an ugly turn when, in a fit of rage, Sukadev’s father snatched away the axe from Leri and axed him to death. Leri collapsed on the ground and later succumbed to injuries on the spot.

On being informed, Boipariguda police reached the spot and launched a probe.
