Bhubaneswar: People bid farewell to the year 2022 and welcomed new year 2023 with pomp and gaiety across Odisha, today.
Zero Night celebrations, feasts, get-togethers and fireworks marked the occasion in the state.
On the first day of the year, people thronged temples and shrines to seek blessing of the deities.
Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur and other major temples and shrines of the state witnessed congregation of people in large numbers.
Similarly, lakhs gathered at the Puri and Konark beaches to witness the first sunrise of the year, this morning.
Necessary arrangements have been made by the respective local administrations in this regard.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wished the people of the state on the occasion of new year.
