Bursting crackers? Follow these for a safe and enjoyable Diwali
Bhubaneswar: Celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali will of course be the best thing. But, in case your Diwali includes bursting crackers, here are some tips for you to have a safe celebration:
- Store crackers in a safe place, away from the obvious gathering and inflammable materials.
- Keep a bucket of sand and water nearby.
- Stock up ice cubes and ice-packs.
- Keep a first-aid kit ready.
- Burst rockets and similar crackers on the terrace.
- Avoid alcohol while bursting crackers.
- Maintain a safe distance from the crackers while bursting and keep them away from face, hair and clothes.
- Know the toll-free numbers of nearby fire-stations and hospitals.
- Wear cotton clothes and avoid synthetic ones while bursting crackers.
- Avoid fireworks around pregnant women, senior citizens and people with respiratory diseases like Asthma.
- Wash and sanitize hands properly after bursting crackers.
- Keep doors and windows closed to avoid pollution from firework and use air conditioners or air purifiers with good filters after fireworks are over.
- Wash eyes, mouth, hands and legs with warm water after exposure of fireworks.
- Fire one cracker at a time.
- Don’t re-ignite crackers that did’t light up on first attempt.
- Try not to burst high decibel firecrackers as they frighten animals.
