Akash Pathak ran Tata Motors office from father’s official quarters

Bhubaneswar: Tainted IFS Officer Abhay Pathak ‘s son Akash was running a fake office in the name of Tata Motors from the Government quarters of the former.

During interrogation, Akash Pathak’s personal secretary David Peter revealed that the tainted IFS officer had spent lakhs of rupees to project his son as the MD of Tata Motors, vigilance sources said.

Akash opened a office at his father’s Government quarters at Unit-9 here in the name of Tata Motors two years ago. He used to make a list of job aspirants and call them up for a meeting at the office. In fact, Akash used to give fake job letters to the aspirants and duped them of thousands of rupees. He used to commit such forgery whenever he comes to Bhubaneswar accompanied by a manager, a PA, and a bodyguard, the Vigilance sources added.

Not only in Bhubaneswar, Akash operated three similar fake offices in last two years, including two in Patna of Bihar and Pune. The Special Investigation team (SIT) plans to bring Akash on remand and conduct a face-to-face grilling of him and his secretary David Peter. Expelled BJD MLA from Gopalpur Pradeep Panigrahi will also be questioned, if required, after being brought on a remand, said a senior Vigilance official adding that the arrested IFS Officer will also be taken on remand for questioning.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Crime Branch is investigating into allegations of forgery on pretext  of job in Tata Motors  by Akash Pathak. Tata Motors told the police that 124 persons have been the victims of the job fraud so far and the network has spread to Odisha, Pune and Patna.
