Low Pressure likely in 12 hours; Heavy rainfall warning issued for these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area is likely to form over westcentral Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin issued this morning.

“The cyclonic circulation over Eastcentral & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal now lies over central parts of Bay of Bengal and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours,” the bulletin said.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued heavy rainfall warning for several districts of the state in connection with the forecasted low pressure area.

Below is the day-wise forecast.

September 8: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda and Puri.

September 9: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Malkangiri and Nuapada.

September 10: Heavy to very heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Sonepur and Bolangir.

September 11: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Bargarh, Nuapada, Koraput, Rayagada, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
