Odisha: 18-44 age group COVID vaccination expanded to all urban areas

Bhubaneswar: In a significant decision, the Odisha Government has expanded the COVID-19 vaccination drive for 18-44 age group to all urban areas of the state. The government has written to all collectors in this regard.

“Under phase-3 COVID-19 vaccination strategies, the vaccination of the 18 to 44 year age group has already been started in five Municipal Corporations and six district headquarter Municipalities/ NACs in the month of May. Now, the Government has approved for expansion of the vaccination of 18 to 44 year group in the rest 22 district headquarter Municipalities/NACs in the month of June,” the government said in the letter.

The state is going to receive 6,45,790 doses of Covishield in June in three tranches, which will be distributed among the districts for 1st dose vaccination based on their target beneficiaries. It is also to note that students and athletes aged 18 to 44 year of the district, who will be going abroad, should be given priority for vaccination, the letter added.

The collectors have been requested to remain in readiness for vaccination of the 18 to 44 year age group in the district headquarter Municipalities/NACs.
