Odisha MP demands Veer Surendra Sai statue at Parliament

Bhubaneswar: Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari has demanded installation of a statue of legendary freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai inside the premises of Parliament.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour yesterday, Pujari also demanded compilation of history of Veer Surendra Sai.

“India is going to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi this year. Can’t we take this opportunity to compile the heroic sacrifices of all the unsung heroes of India,” the MP said.

“Veer Surendra Sai fought against the Britishers 28 years before the first war of independence and spent 37 years in jail till his death. Installation of his statue inside the premises of Parliament will be a tribute to one of the greatest heroes of mother India,” he said.
