Lightning strike claims lives of two women, injures 2 in Odisha’s Kendrapara

Kendrapara: In a tragic incident, two women died and two others sustained injuries in a lightning strike while they were fishing on a country boat in sea near Mahakalapada in Odisha’s Kendrapara district today.

The deceased have been identified as Pranati Mandal (55) and Deeplai Mandal (40) of Jamboo village. Both sustained grievious burn injuries on major parts of their bodies and died on the boat.

On the other hand, Tarak Mandal (22) and Dasi Mandal (40) were injured in the incident and admitted to Mahakalapada hospital.

In a similar incident, three members of a family were injured after lightning struck their house at Bibhutipur village under Kakatpur block of Puri district today damaging the roof and several electrical appliances.

The victims, identified as Kailash Sahu, his wife and their daughter, sustained minor burn injuries on their face and were admitted to Kakatpur Primary Health Centre. They were later shifted to Charichaka Community Health Centre. Their condition stated to be stable now.
