Bhubaneswar, Apr 27:

IndiGo flight 6E-489, which took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Odisha capital to New Delhi early this morning, was diverted to Jaipur due to massive air traffic congestion on account of bad weather, source in the airline said.

“IndiGo flight 6E-489 was diverted to Jaipur due to massive air traffic congestion on account of bad weather at Delhi during the early morning hours. Delhi experienced thunderstorm and shower due to which may flights to and fro were affected,” the source said.

However, one Priyabrata Majhi, who was onboard the flight, took to Facebook to share his experience and said “the plane couldn’t land due to heavy turbulence.”

According to his Facebook post, the aeroplane flew above Delhi for 45 minutes after failing to land in New Delhi in first attempt due to turbulence.

“The second approach to land was very scary and by then many passengers started vomiting and the plane really started shaking and the plane went up and down up and down like a seesaw and the pilot took a decision to take off again. The third approach was also same but by then the pilot decided to divert our plane to jaipur,” he wrote on Facebook.

“The decision to divert to Jaipur should have been taken at the first instance,” he added.
